November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month

Today, I had the opportunity to discuss lung cancer with the great team at Living Oklahoma. Unfortunately lung cancer is far too common and is BY FAR the number one cause of cancer deaths. In fact, more patients will pass away from lung cancer than from breast, prostate, and colon cancer combined.

I didn’t do bad for a live segment in hitting points but these are some of the group that benefit the most:

  • LUNG CANCER NEAR THE HEART
  • LUNG CANCER IN THE LOWER CHEST
  • YOUR DOCTOR DOES NOT RECOMMEND CHEMO AND RADIATION TOGETHER FOR A LOCALLY ADVANCED CASE.
  • YOU HAVE KNOWN CALCIUM DEPOSITS IN YOUR ARTERIES

SCREENING CAN IMPROVE OUTCOMES AND CATCH LUNG CANCER EARLIER:

Low Dose screening – people with significant smoking histories can benefit from low-dose CT scans – talk to your doctor.

And… as always, a reminder to stop smoking and help your family members to stop smoking.
