Navigating the Unknown

I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer on October 11, 2021.  On January 3, 2022, I began treatment.

When I was told that I had cancer, I was so confused about the treatment options.  All of my friends were giving recommendations on what treatment I should have, and all it did was confuse me more.

The Proton Center is about 30-plus miles from my home.  I did not want to drive back and forth five days a week for forty treatments to complete my treatment.

I went for my consultation, and I realized that this place is where God wanted me to be.

I was in denial at first, but the Proton Center had been many peoples’ recommendation.  I made the trip twice daily and didn’t mind it at all.

I lead a Men’s Prayer Group at my church.  One of the guys that attends, Danny is his name, asked me to just try it.  He told me he would be glad to take me to treatment if I would just try it.  Danny or no one else drove me; I went on my own.

The staff at the Proton Center deal with people like me every day.  They were all so amazing.  They truly cared about me and loved me through it.

I rang the bell on February 28, 2022, and have had no issues since.

Each day I went into my treatment room to work with fabulous people.  They were kind and made me feel at home.

The job they do is not just a job but a true calling.

I believe in the treatments, the people, and the process. I recommend the Proton Center every chance that I get.

Thank you, Proton Center, for being there for me in a time of confusion and fear of the unknown.
